Celebrating 10 years of pressing rapeseed at hillfarm

It’s easy to forget that premium cold-pressed rapeseed oil has only been around for a decade, but May 2014 marked the 10th anniversary of hillfarm Oils.

In 2004 we tarted to explore the possibility of producing a culinary oil from our rapeseed crop. The result was an oil that not only has significant health benefits when compared to olive oil, but was also delicious and we started to bottle it launching it at the Suffolk Show in May 2004 and becoming the first farm in the UK to grow, press and bottle our oil.

hillfarm remains very much a family business, true to its Suffolk roots; growing, pressing and bottling on site to produce a fully traceable, sustainable, single estate and non-GM oil. “Our family have been growing rapeseed at hillfarm for 35 years and we select seed varieties for their superior nutrition and flavour”, tells Sam. “Suffolk’s climate and soil make ideal conditions for growing the best rapeseed.

We celebrated our our anniversary with special 10 years bottle lids and labels and gave away fun yellow balloons at our tenth Suffolk Show. The Suffolk Show has been a really important  part of our journey and we were thrilled to celebrate our anniversary there – we hope to be there in another 10 years in 2024!
