The Colour Cycle Of Our Fields: Why Blooms Matter at Hillfarm
Did you know your oil is packed with natural beauty?
Throughout Spring, you may have noticed something magical happening across the East Anglian countryside - the fields explode from green crops into a sea of vivid yellow as the rapeseed comes into full bloom. It’s one of the most beautiful and important sights in our calendar at Hillfarm Oils.
Rapeseed, a member of the brassica family (alongside mustard, broccoli and cabbage) grows quietly through autumn and winter and, come April, bursts into bloom in a blaze of yellow. It’s not just a visual treat, t’s also a haven for pollinators like bees, which play a vital role in the ecosystem we depend on as farmers.
For us, these golden fields are more than just a pretty picture. They mark a key moment in the growing cycle of our rapeseed crop, the very crop that will be cold-pressed later this year to create our signature Hillfarm rapeseed oil. The sight of the bright yellow flowers is a reminder of nature doing what it does best - transforming sunshine, rain and soil into something full of potential.

As one journey ends, another begins, as the plants have now dried out in the summer heat and the rapeseed is becoming ready for harvest. We're always so excited for this process, as once beautiful yellow hue fades and dries, it means the seeds are ripe and ready. We’re proud to grow, press and bottle our oil right here on the family farm, and that journey from field to bottle begins with those iconic yellow blooms.
So next time you spot a field of bright rapeseed on your travels, know that it’s the start of something brilliant. In just a few months, those tiny black seeds will become a bottle of Hillfarm goodness, packed with natural flavour and healthy fats, perfect for your kitchen table.
At Hillfarm, we pack as much natural beauty as we can into every bottle of our oil, so you know you're getting something good. No added ingredients, just pure rapeseed oil, made to taste good and make you feel even better. Help your health bloom just like our fields, by making the switch to Hillfarm today.
